Today was a fairly quiet day, I was kept busy at home with indoor tasks so I didn’t really have a chance to get out and share awareness in person, but I was able to do some sharing online and I did wear a dress that I found for half price at a thrift store yesterday. The label says it was made in India and it is beautiful, I just love the pattern and colors, yet I was led to wonder who in India made it and if they were treated ethically. I did look up the label name online but couldn’t find much information on it, only that it was sold wholesale by a company in the US.
Since I can’t really know, I am praying for them that they are not victims and if they are they will be found and set free.
Also I was reading some articles on the Dressember Blog today, and one in particular caught my attention. It said “According to the Journal of Trauma Practice, women in the sex industry experience Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at rates equivalent to veterans of combat war.” This is a pretty disturbing statement.
For PTSD is defined as “a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.”
This is one of the main reasons it is extremely important that Dressember continues to raise funds and awareness sot that it can help organizations provide rescue missions, aftercare kits, and freedom centers, so that these victims are rescued and given the support and services they need.
Any amount you are able to donate will help.
